Tarporley is a historic market village in the heart of Cheshire, known for its high street of independent shops, cafés and traditional pubs. It also makes an easy base for exploring the surrounding countryside and some of the best days out in the north west.
Walks, woods and castles. Delamere Forest is the closest big green escape, with miles of trails for walking and cycling, plus Go Ape Delamere and Delamere Wild Shore for something more adventurous. The Sandstone Trail passes nearby, and the ruins of Beeston Castle have views across the Cheshire Plain, with Peckforton Castle close by. Cholmondeley Castle Gardens are a lovely place to wander for the afternoon.
Days out. Chester, with its Roman walls and shopping Rows, is about a 25-minute drive away, and Chester Zoo and the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet are within easy reach. Closer to home you can browse Blakemere Village or visit the market town of Nantwich, and North Wales makes a good day trip for the mountains and coast.
Racing, golf and events. Oulton Park motor racing circuit is a short drive away, and horse racing fans have Chester Races and Bangor-on-Dee Races within reach, along with polo at Cheshire Polo Club. Golfers can play at Portal Golf Club in Tarporley itself, and in summer Delamere Forest hosts open-air concerts.
Treats for all the family. Snugbury’s Ice Cream and the Cheshire Ice Cream Farm are both a short drive away, perfect after a day outdoors.
